Glad you asked!  We thought this was a great title for this project because we're stripping away everything we can and putting the soul of the band, the songs, and the performances first.  So we'll have the "essence" of the band by it only being Travis and Denver.  The "essence" of the songs will be on display because it will only be versions that put the emphasis on what the song is saying.  But it'll also be the "essence" of our performances because it will be the performances we intend on duplicating as a duo when we perform these songs live without the multiple tracks and production that normally goes into a fully produced album and/or concert.  

 The Essence Project Fun Facts:

• Recorded over a six week period of time. 
• After being attempted, but rejected on our other studio projects, "Withered Tree" had to be re-recorded a second time before making the cut on this project!
• Dunkin Donuts coffee continued to be imbibed in mass quantities
• In an effort to be a truly transparent recording, no pitch correction or pads were used.  
• With no bass guitar at all on the project, the streak of Travis as the studio bass player has ended.  
  
• Denver's drum and percussion parts were recorded with his live cocktail kit with the exception of a slightly larger snare drum.
